WOW. Here we (finally) are at the end of the first Week Fulla! And what a wild one it was. I have definitely enjoyed doing this. And I’m hoping to get it right the second time around lol – that’s if I don’t have another set of existential crises in the middle of the week 🙂 But we’re here to talk about Bas’s Last Winter (2014). I don’t listen to Bas all the time, but he is someone that I enjoy listening to, even though I was a little hard on him during the Album Look Back for Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019). And Last Winter is one of those projects from him that I really enjoy. Here are some songs that I LOVE.
NOTE: this is a short one because I haven’t eaten breakfast yet LOL so I’m tryna go eat this bagel, youknowwhatimsayin?
“My Nigga Just Made Bail” and “Lit”
Bas and Cole are an undefeated combination. Whenever they’re on a song together, I know I can expect some FIRE. And they’ve never disappointed me. And these two songs are no exception. The production on both of them is amazing, but I just love how balanced they are on songs together. Cole could EASILY take over the track as the bigger artist, but he doesn’t. And he doesn’t necessarily take a backseat role either; he just does his thing, and Bas does his. And the beginning of “My Nigga Just Made Bail” is just such an ICONIC song intro for me.
“Donk of the Day”
I remember not really liking “Donk of the Day” the first couple of times I heard it – I think the beginning of the song just used to throw me off a little bit. But it’s one of my favorites now. Bas really doesn’t have a singing voice on him, but him giving us a little bit of vocals on the chorus gives me joy lol. I don’t know, I have a thing where I love hearing rappers that don’t sing, sing? Like JID is a good example of a rapper who SINGS. But I like just hearing random vocals on rap tracks. LOL it’s hard to explain. But this song is a good example of that. Hopefully you see what I’m saying!
“Mook in New Mexico”
It’s really the production on this song and the “be alert be alert” that I LOVE. I love the actual lyrics, too. But that production just GETS ME!
“Fiji Water in My Iron”
Again. The PRODUCTION!

Week Fulla Dreamville – My Favorite’s of All Time #13: J.Cole’s ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’
UMMMMM. So I don’t know WHAT happened yesterday. I had every intention to write this, but for some reason I was watching All Def’s videos instead LOL. And then there was a bunch of excitement later on (cable company came to set up the internet because we’ve been living recklessly, I made dinner) that I … Continue reading Week Fulla Dreamville – My Favorite’s of All Time #13: J.Cole’s ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’
